Function:
The position is responsible for developing employer relationships to support the WEI program and students employment opportunities and to facilitate the employability skills training course and student workshops. Responsible for providing students at the Crisp Technology Center wrap-around services to assist with retention in the program.
Organizational Relationship:
This position reports to the WEI Grant Lead, who reports to the Vice President of Student Services, who reports to the President of the College.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelors degree.
- Experience in workforce development or career placement.
- Proficiency in establishing new relationships and planning.
- Ability to interact and engage with diverse students and community members and a commitment to serve underrepresented students.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to community college mission and philosophy.
- Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills.
- Work with entire College community in an effective and positive manner.
Essential Functions:
- Carry out strategies in the workforce partnership plan.
- Establish meaningful relationships with local employers and local chambers of commerce to understand business, job opportunites, and needs of employers.
- Facilitate the employability skills curriculum using GPEAK.
- Support students throughout the career search including job interviewing skills, resume writing, and cover letter development.
- Research and maintain current career opportunities for WEI programs.
- Build relationship with KC instructors for WEI sponsored programs and collaborate on appropriate career placement.
- Develop, facilitate and support workshops, career fairs, meetings, and other event/activities related to career development, workforce development and career placement.
- Track employment of students for ICCB reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with the WEI Coach/Academic Advisor to provide wrap-around services to students at the Crisp Technology Center.
- Assist WEI Coach/Academic Advisor in onboarding of students.
- Address barriers to students success including academic, financial and personal challenges.
- Attend and participate in conferences and workshops as they relate to the job duties.
Other Functions:
- Provide input in the planning and budget process for grant opportunities.
- Assist the appropriate College staff in follow-up activities for graduating or existing WEI students.
- Assist the appropriate College staff in the dissemination of information dealing with Kaskaskia College programs and activities for students and the community.
- Participate in commencement exercises.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility:
None.
Supervisory Controls:
While consultation with Grant Lead is available as necessary, the WEI Coach/Workforce Partnership Coordinator must be able to work independently and with a minimum amount of supervision.
Guidelines:
Position is expected to follow all Kaskaskia College policies and procedures, along with local, state and federal laws and regulations. Position is also expected to adhere to and promote College core values of compassion, honesty, respect, fairness, and responsibility.
Personal Relationships:
Employee will have daily contact with students, other College employees and will have frequent contact with businesses and community.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Travel within the College district, as well as occasional overnight travel is required as
necessary. This position will have shared office space as well as opportunity to work
remotely from home as determined jointly with supervisor approval.
